#1 Kanda Poha
Maharashtrian famous dish Kanda Poha is a light and delicious snack that requires minimal effort and the following ingredients.
Ingredients :
250 Gm Poha (thick), 1 Onion (chopped), 1 Green Chilli (chopped), 1 Potato (boiled, peeled and diced), 2 Tsps Peanuts, 5 Curry Leaves, ½ Tsp Sugar, 3 Tsps Oil, ½ Tsp, Mustard Seeds, ½ Tsp Turmeric Powder, 1 Tsp Lemon Juice, 1 Tbsp Coriander Leaves (chopped), Salt to taste.
Method :
- Step 1 : Wash poha under running water for 5 minutes.
- Step 2 : Drain the excess water and add salt and sugar.
- Step 3 : Mix lightly, and set it aside.
- Step 4 : Heat oil in a nonstick frying pan.
- Step 5 : Add mustard seeds, asafoetida, curry leaves, peanuts, chillies and sauté for about a minute, then after add onions.
- Step 6 : Cook till they’re translucent.
- Step 7 : Add turmeric powder, potatoes and poha.
- Step 8 : Continue cooking on medium heat for 5-7 minutes.
- Step 9 : Add lemon juice, mix lightly and serve hot with a garnish of coriander leaves.
#2 Besan Chilla
Besan Cheela is one of the best and complete Indian breakfast, many people like to eat it the most with coriander chutney. Here's what you'll need to make it at home.
Ingredients :
2 Cups Besan, 1 Onion (finely chopped), 1 Tomato (finely chopped), 2-3 Tbsp Coriander Leaves (chopped), 1 Tsp Red Chilli Powder, ½ Tsp Turmeric Powder, ¼ Tsp Asafoetida, Salt to taste, Oil for cooking, Water as required.
Method :
- Step 1 : In a large bowl mix together besan, onions, tomatoes, coriander, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, asafoetida and salt with water to form a thick batter.
- Step 2 : Make sure that there are no lumps in the besan batter.
- Step 3 : Heat oil in a nonstick pan, and generously spread the batter on it to slow-cook the besan chilla.
- Step 4 : Once it turns golden brown, flip and cook from the other side as well.
- Step 5 : Serve hot with coriander chutney.
#3 Bread Pakoda
If you are not in the mood to eat cheela and want to eat something crunchy type, then you must try bread pakora. You can make Bread Pakora at home using the recipe given below. Here’s what you’ll need for it.
Ingredients :
4 Bread Slices, 1 Cup Besan, ½ Tsp Carom Seeds, ¼ Tsp Red Chilli Powder, ¼ Tsp Turmeric Powder, ¼ Tsp Garam Masala Powder, 2 Tbsps coriander Leaves (chopped), Salt as required, Water as required, Oil to deep fry.
Method :
- Step 1 : Cut the slices of bread into 8 equal triangular pieces and set them aside.
- Step 2 : In a bowl mix the besan, carom seeds, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder and salt with half a cup of water.
- Step 3 : Mix the ingredients together to form a thickish batter to cover the bread with.
- Step 4 : Heat a round bottom pan with oil to deep fry.
- Step 5 : Dip the bread in this batter and fry till both sides turn golden brown.
- Step 6 : Drain the excess oil with the help of tissue paper and serve hot with coriander chutney or ketchup.
#4 Potato Wedges
It's not indian but nowadays it's very popular and a favourite to everyone, especially children. Potato Wedges can be made at home with Indian spices. Here’s what you’ll need for it.
Ingredients :
2 Potatoes (peeled and cut into thick slices), 1 Egg (beaten), 1 Cup Breadcrumbs, ½ Tsp Red Chilli Powder, ½ Garam Masala Powder, Salt to taste, Oil to shallow fry.
Method :
- Step 1 : Coat the potato slices with an egg (beaten), red chilli powder, salt and garam masala.
- Step 2 : Next, roll the slices in breadcrumbs and shallow fry them in a skillet.
- Step 3 : Make ensure that the oil isn’t too hot while frying otherwise only the egg will turn into a crispy delight and the potato will remain uncooked.
- Step 4 : Drain the excess oil with the help of tissue paper and serve hot with coriander chutney or ketchup.
#5 Cheesy Garlic Bread
This is the recipe for making Cheesy Garlic Bread at home without oven and hassle. In fact, you can make this recipe with just leftover bread and cheese slices. Here’s what you’ll need for it.
Ingredients :
½ Cup Butter, 2 Garlic Cloves (minced), 2 Slices of Bread, 2 Slices of Cheese or Shredded Cheese, Salt to taste.

- Step 1 : Start by making the garlic butter for the bread by sautéing garlic cloves in butter with salt on low heat.
